Alex Whorms

"Our Lives" EP available everywhere

Frequently compared to Sara Bareilles and Regina Spektor by listeners, Alex Whorms is a piano-pop songwriter based in Hamilton. She performs as a soloist and fronts her own band.

Her 2017 Our Lives EP has climbed the charts of community radio shows across North America including 93.3 FM CFMU Top 20 [“Jones”, “People In Love”, “Naturally”], I Heart Hamilton Top 5 [“Jones”], and 93.1 FM WRUW (Cleveland) ["Jones"].

Whorms has performed in over 100 festivals and concerts across Ontario in the past sixteen months alone, delighting audiences of all ages with her upbeat, infectious sound and charismatic stage presence. Most recently, she was an opening act for Tom Cochrane at Festival of Friends 2018 and a featured speaker at Mohawk College Music Career Day 2018.

Her music, Whorms explains, is inspired by everyday life. “The lyrics reflect my attitude towards life events I have either witnessed or personally experienced. I use music as a tool to amplify and communicate the emotion behind my lyrics.”

Whorms’s background in classical piano and harmony informs her musical vision for keyboard, string quartet and vocal arrangements. She is a 2018 recipient of FACTOR's Artist Development Grant and is currently recording her next release.
